Worlds and visual effects

Create a 45–60 second scene integrating an original Blender object or environment with filmed footage. Include one tracked or chroma-key composite, a short tested simulation, at least four synchronised original SFX and an 8–10 page Affinity folio.

Affinity

Designer title/graphic overlay; Photo texture and clean plate; Publisher 8–10 page VFX folio.

Blender

Model, texture and animate a scene element; match camera/light; test a bounded cloth or other simulation and render passes.

Adobe

After Effects tracking/keying, masking and compositing; Premiere Pro final edit; Audition at least four synchronised Foley/SFX layers.

Assessed outcomes: CMT5-SAF-01, CMT5-COM-01, CMT5-DEP-01, CMT5-DES-01, CMT5-USE-01, CMT5-PMP-01, CMT5-IET-01. Your issued notification governs the assessment.

Marking standard guide

Outstanding: controlled production and perceptive decisions. High: effective work and reasoned improvements. Sound: functional work and an appropriate explanation. Basic: partial production and limited justification. Limited: fragmented work with little usable process evidence. These are quality descriptions, not fixed percentage bands. See the notification for the full rubric.

Folio and starter files

Folio writing scaffold

Build the native folio in Publisher using master pages and styles. The included scaffold provides the writing structure; a native .afpub teacher template remains a planned asset.

Interactive HTML starter for exhibition, campaign and capstone projects.

Support and challenge

Starting check: Show two composites with different shadows. Ask which feels integrated and what evidence supports a correction.

Need a scaffold? Provide a locked camera plate, simple object, cue-sheet frame and tracking demonstration; students choose integration and sound solutions.

Ready to extend? Improve realism within a fixed render-time limit, using evidence from viewer testing rather than adding effects.

Ask your teacher about captions, visual instructions, accessible equipment or supervised software access. Safety and ethical production apply throughout.
