Identity in motion

Create a visual identity and a 15–20 second animated ident for a fictional school club. Include a vector logo, edited photograph, a simple original 3D emblem, animated title, edited SFX and a concise design folio.

Affinity

Designer vector logo and palette; Photo crop, correction and masking; Publisher 6–8 page folio.

Blender

Model a simple emblem from primitives; set material, camera and light; render a short turntable.

Adobe

After Effects title keyframes; Premiere Pro assembly and MP4 export; Audition record, trim and fade an original sound sting.

TEN TEACHING BLOCKS

How do visual hierarchy, timing and sound communicate an identity?

W012.5 hours

Audience and safe setup

Compare two club identities. Model ergonomics, cable safety, listening levels, folder structure, backup and consent. Write an audience brief and three measurable criteria.

Marking standard guide

Outstanding: controlled production and perceptive decisions. High: effective work and reasoned improvements. Sound: functional work and an appropriate explanation. Basic: partial production and limited justification. Limited: fragmented work with little usable process evidence. These are quality descriptions, not fixed percentage bands. See the notification for the full rubric.

Folio and starter files

Folio writing scaffold

Build the native folio in Publisher using master pages and styles. The included scaffold provides the writing structure; a native .afpub teacher template remains a planned asset.

Interactive HTML starter for exhibition, campaign and capstone projects.

Support and challenge

Starting check: Which of two logos stays readable at 48 pixels, and why? Observe an independent save/export attempt.

Need a scaffold? Use a labelled node guide, limited colour swatches, chunked demonstrations and partially completed folio headings; retain the student’s design choice.

Ready to extend? Redesign the identity for a phone screen while maintaining recognition and reducing file size; justify the trade-off.

Ask your teacher about captions, visual instructions, accessible equipment or supervised software access. Safety and ethical production apply throughout.
